November is National Adoption Month.
Most folks have months to plan for the arrival of baby. And with the turn of the seasons, parents know the budget must allow for the next size up in clothing/shoes. Holidays and birthdays are all on the calendar. Not so with Resource Parents. The two year old boy that joined your family for just a week has gone to live with Grandma and the next child you welcome may be a 12 year old girl.
And we all know that the stipend does not cover all that is needed to really welcome a child into your home. So what can you do to afford all you need to make the new addition feel at home and what do you do with all the stuff once they've left?
Enkore Kids can help.
Save Money: New and "New-to-you" cloth diapers, baby carriers, clothing, toys, and other baby-related equipment. Due to new federal regulations, we generally do not have cribs in stock, but we do have crib/toddler mattresses, bassinets, pack n plays, and bedding. Our clothing sizes range from preemie to size 12. Our used items are of a quality we'd use with our own children (and often do!) and all items are checked for recalls. Prices on our used items are generally at least 50% off of retail.
Return/Exchange Privileges: 7 Days for money back and 14 days for exchange - just be sure to leave tags attached for all clothing. (New items must still be in new condition, with the exception of new cloth diapers and baby carriers which are covered under a more generous return privilege.). If the next court date sees the child go home, that'll be one less thing weighing on your mind as you mentally prepare for the next child(ren).
Turn Kids' Stuff into Cash/Store Credit: Now that your family has changed again, storage becomes a premium. Do you really want to hold onto everything? Make room (and money) for the things you need now by selling back the items you don't. We pay for most items upfront at the time of your appointment. Store credit is always twice as much as cash since we take all the risk and it never expires so it'll be waiting for your next shopping trip for that unexpected addition. Consignment is also an option for pricier items with a higher percentage split.
Emergency Shopping: As a small store, we do not have the hours of the 24-hour Walmart. So while we may not be able to help at all hours of the day, we are here for you for most of it. Jennifer (240-674-1859) lives above the store and Susan (240-674-7236) lives next door, so if we're in-town when the store is closed, we're happy to help. Those are our personal cell phone numbers, so feel free to text us as well.
Favorite Search: Though we stock over 7,000 items in our store at any given time, we may not always have what you’re looking for at the time you come in. Create your "favorite searches" on-line and you’ll be notified via email the same day a matching item is entered into inventory.
Car Seat Install: Susan is a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician and will be happy to help you properly install your car seat free of charge. She can also help ensure the car seat is the right fit for the child. Car seats DO expire (most last only 6 years), so check yours before using it.
Cloth Diapers: Diapering kids is expensive. Save money and help out the environment, too, by considering cloth! Ask us about our cloth diaper rent to own plan that keeps your costs below what you’d spend on disposables! Because of our partnership with the Washington County League of Foster and Adoptive Families, we offer resource parents 20% back on the cost of the diapers in the form of store credit. If you take advantage of our ECDC program, it is credited to your account once the payment plan is completed.
As a resource parent, you don’t need to wait for a sale. Just bring in your placement authorization form for verification or foster care training certification to receive the specials displayed on this page. Our Resource Parent Offers are subject to change without notice. This page will always reflect the current offers valid at the time of your purchase. If we have not already verified that you are a foster parent in good standing with your county, we will need that information faxed or emailed to us before filling your order. These offers may not be used in combination with other sales, coupons, or store credit.
